Engineered Flooring Sydney

What Is Engineered Flooring

Engineered flooring usually refers to engineered timber flooring. Unlike solid timber, it is built in layers, which helps the boards stay more stable in everyday conditions.

Most standard engineered boards use a thin oak wear layer over plywood or another mixed core. The flooring shown on our website is different. We use Lalegno full oak boards made from three layers of solid oak throughout. That gives the floor a much more solid timber feel underfoot, while improving stability compared with both solid timber and standard engineered boards.

Engineered Oak Flooring

Engineered oak flooring is the main product across our range. It combines the natural character of oak with a board construction designed to perform more consistently in modern homes.

For many homeowners, that is the main attraction. You still get the warmth and detail of oak, but with a floor that behaves more stable once installed.

European Oak Flooring

European oak is the timber used across our main range. It is widely used because it is durable, takes colour evenly and works well across a broad range of finishes.

The grain has enough detail to stop the floor looking flat, but it still reads evenly across a larger space. Its tannin content also allows it to be smoked, fumed and stained, which is why it can be finished in light Scandinavian tones, natural oak colours and deeper smoked shades. Depending on the selection, the result can be cleaner and more understated, or show more knot and grain detail.

Lalegno Full Oak Engineered Flooring

All flooring shown on our website uses Lalegno full oak construction. Each board is made from three layers of solid oak rather than a thin oak wear layer over plywood or a mixed core.

The top and bottom layers are balanced in thickness, so the board responds more evenly to changes in temperature and humidity. This helps reduce internal stress and control movement over time.

In practice, it gives the floor the feel of solid timber, but with better stability than both solid timber and standard engineered boards.

Plank and Herringbone

Board format has a big effect on how the floor looks once installed. Wide planks create a calmer, more continuous finish with fewer joins. Herringbone brings more pattern and gives the floor more presence in the room.

Across our range, both options use the same European oak and the same construction. The difference is in the layout, not the material or the quality of the board.

Showroom Engineered Flooring Options

While the website focuses on European oak flooring, we also carry engineered Australian species such as blackbutt and spotted gum in our Sydney showroom.

If you are comparing options, it is worth seeing the boards in person. Colour, grain and finish can look very different depending on the space and lighting, and a showroom visit makes that much easier to understand.
